The educational services at the elementary school are free to participating families, providing an alternative for those children who cannot afford to pay the tuition and registration fees required at most schools. While the elementary school consists of six grade levels, there are only three permanent classrooms. The state currently provides four teachers, therefore it is extremely hard to meet the needs of each child due to the various grade and ability levels in each room. In addition, most children cannot afford to purchase many books or school supplies, making it difficult to teach effectively.
With the assistance of volunteers, CDCA has implemented an enriching program. The program consists of English, Physical Education and Art classes for grades one through six. CDCA also provides a year round after school programming including a girls group, community tutoring, and courses for adults. In the summer CDCA provides a summer school enrichment program for children.
